Positive Notes
Healthcare systems remain structurally constrained by human physicians. High-quality clinical care grounded in best practices and rigorous reasoning is expensive, scarce, and difficult to scale. Founded by physicians trained at the University of São Paulo (USP), Mar Saúde is building Brazil’s first Autonomous Medical Clinic, a regulatory-approved infrastructure that translates the workflow of a top-tier clinical consultation into an intelligent, end-to-end digital system.
Through a direct patient interface, Mar delivers fully autonomous medical consultations that include baseline check-ups, diagnostic confirmation, and ongoing monitoring of chronic or high-risk cases. Using AI, the company codified clinical reasoning into structured digital workflows that integrate evidence-based protocols, validated risk models, automated exam ordering, result interpretation, and longitudinal follow-up. The platform (B2B2C) serves nearly 90,000 active users and has autonomously generated more than 12,000 confirmed diagnoses so far. At the same time, enterprise clients, typically insurers, brokers, and employers, gained real-time visibility into aggregated clinical insights, epidemiological trends, and care progression, enabling active population health management.
By decoupling quality from cost and scale from clinician time, Mar dramatically reduced marginal cost while delivering high-standard primary and secondary care to entire populations, expanding access to excellent medicine while strengthening financial sustainability for payers and employers. The company’s current focus is on accelerating growth through large B2B partnerships. As with most healthcare infrastructure businesses, sales cycles are long and require institutional validation, regulatory alignment, and proof of economic impact at scale. Successfully navigating these dynamics will be key to unlocking Mar’s next phase of expansion and consolidating Autonomous Medicine as a foundational layer of the healthcare system.
